There exists a fine line between the degree of responsibility a government has for its citizens, and the control it assumes to ensure the proliferation of its power. While freedom may be a traditional American value, how it is defined is a question that has long been a source of debate. Furthermore, when an institution follows a course of action that becomes detrimental to society, what responsibility, if any, do the citizens have to show their dissent, and what form should that dissent take? All of these are questions looking to be answered, with varying degrees of seriousness, by Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Swift. Thomas Jefferson’s A Declaration of Independence may be thought of as a universal symbol of traditional American values,†¦show more content†¦In the introduction Swift invokes the daily sight of poverty on the streets of Ireland, and how families, â€Å"are forced to employ all of their time in strolling, to beg sustenance for their helpless infants, who are, as they grow up, either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country.† While Swift opens with a strong sense of compassion, creating a sense of empathy in the reader, his comments about woman as â€Å"breeders† and Irish who â€Å"fight for the pretender in Spain,† give some insight into his mixed loyalties. The wretched description of poverty certainly creates a need for change, but when Swift begins to attack the same poor people he claim need assistance, the quality of his delivery is compromised and the reader loses some degree of emotional investment in the story. Another important component of each work individually is the course of action the author claims will be effective against their perceived source of tyranny. The theme of this lecture is how to manage yourself properly. She discussed with us on the quality that need in the work. We came up with many a character like confidence, attitude, appearance and competency etc. She also expressed her opinion on the matter which inspired us a lot. And in the afternoon we were given a lecture on the EST( English for science and technology). To protect the environment and cater to the ROHS standard of European Union, the fully started the regulation measures against the poisonous matters, which make it a green plant at present. The concept of management in the company is human first, environment friendly, exploit and innovation as well as sustainable development. The guide line for the production is process regulation, constant improvement pursuit in high quality and to meet the needs of clients. This is part of the corporate culture, which is excellent and beneficial to the development of the company. Maybe this is why the company grows so rapidly. After everything was all right, I began my work. It was the first time that I had been to the office. I was a little excited but nervous because I have no idea of what kind of job I wound take. They showed the office to me and we visited the production line. Every worker was carefully working and the clerks were performing their duties. Then I got some documents and materials regarding the company, from which I got a general idea of the business line and the kinds of products they deal in. They mainly specialize in electronics products. Some names of the items were completely new to me, so I would ask the employee who was not busy in a humble way. They usually explained it to me patiently. Then I was assigned to pick up the telephone and receive the fax. This is the basic part of the assistant job. Although it looks like a small and easy task, it’s essential for the green hand like me. When the phone rang, you can’t pick it up immediately or after a long time. It is better to wait it rang twice or third times before you pick it up. First you should say hello and tell him your name. The voice can’t be too loud or too fast so as to you can be understood. During the conversation you should keep smiling even if you can’t be seen by the other. In the end you could not hang up the phone until the other did it. So from the answer of the telephone, I learned many useful things so called the business etiquette. Also I had learned how to use the fax. I didn’t use it before, so it’s new tome at first. But it is easy to use the machine. I also knew that the fax played an important role in the company. It is a useful tool for exchanging information and sending or receiving documents and letters. The following days I did the same kind of job, and sometimes I helped other staff take documents or copy some materials. The work is repetitive and boring, which made me lose the enthusiasm for the work. But I found that the official staff was doing their work day after day. Can’t they feel humdrum? I began to realize that it’s the responsibility that enables them to work carefully. Any neglect and mistake may lead to the loss to the company. The job is not only about yourself, it also relates to your boss, even the whole company. Once you are engaged in a job, you must take it seriously. There are not always so many things for me to do, so when I was free I wound find things to do on my own. I think the internship is a good opportunity for the interns to learn some pra ctical things. So we must grasp every chance to improve ourselves. Therefore, I wound not relax myself even if there is nothing for me to do. Sometimes I quietly stand by other employees to observe their work and asked them some questions now and then. As a green hand, we can learn a lot of things by self study. I also found a supply agreement and tried to translate it. The translation of this agreement is the main job I did. Although we had practiced some business translation in campus, it’s quite different when you get a real piece of material. The agreement is set by two companies and has force adeffect, so it must cover every aspect. Any neglect may attribute to the loss to any companies. This agreement mainly contains fourteen parts. It contains term of agreement, purchase, price, quality criteria, compliance with laws, delivery and invoicing, inspection and rejection, changes, proprietary rights and confidential information, warranties, indemnification, force majeure, t ermination as well as generals. Every part has specific rules and specifications. The translation is hard, because business English has its own features like consistency, faithfulness, exactness. During the translation, we must adhere to the three principles, or else it will deviate from its original meanings, especially the date must be expressed clearly. Take the following sentences for examples: Party B shall deliver the finished products to Party A at —- at the former’s own expense and risk not later than ten days after the end of each calendar quarter,and shall advise Party A by telex,within three days after loading,of the quantity,vessel’s name,port of shipment,date,estimated date of arrival to the destination and other information regarding the shipment. So we can conclude that the exactness is the most important factor in translation. There are still a lot of things for me to learn. The translation is a really long-term subject for us to learn. In future , I will enhance the practice of translation and improve my levels of translation. In the last week, I went to the talent market with the personnel. They plan to recruit the new employees to supplement vacant positions. The Shenzhen talent market is very big. After we arranged well, the crowds poured in. I never thought of the spectacle like this. So many people were looking for a job. Their complexions are so complicated that you can’t understand. Some people look confident and relaxed while some look worried and anxious. Everyone hopes to find a good job, but not everyone is lucky enough to get one. Some people came to our stand to ask the basic situations and some was asked to leave their resumes to wait for further notice. Then we get several dozens of resumes all the day. Then after the selection of the HR, they picked out 10 ex cellent resumes. They asked me to notify them to come to interview on Monday. Again I began to make telephone calls. But this time it’s different from the before. The people I called are all very polite except one. To find a job is really difficult. Also I was lucky to attend the interview. I sat nearby to watch the process. In fact the interview began from their entrance. Their dresses and behaviors were considered in some way. The self introduction was necessary. From this part we can clearly know the communication skills. Then a few questions were asked. Some really gave a good answer while some are nervous and did not perform well. From this interview I learned a lot and benefit from it. In future when I look for a job, I will pay attention to this aspect, I think I will perform well and give a good impression. Before I leave Shenzhen, I also went to the Nanshan technology zone where some famous companies locate like Tencent, huawei. Ltd. Meanwhile, I went to the downtown of Shenzhen city. It’s really a modern and busy city. It’s also very clean. But the stress of competition is fierce, it’s really difficult for a new people to live here. A man walks into a New Orleans brokerage firm and opens fire on everyone inside. He kills one of the higher-ranking employs, Jacob Woods. The movie then immediately Jumps two years ahead in time. We meet Nicholas Easter, played by John Sack. He opens a letter to find out he has been summoned for Jury Duty. The case is none other than Celeste Woods, the woman whose husband had been shot two years prior, vs.. Vicksburg Firearms, the company that allowed the gun to get into the killers hands. As Nick is walking away room his mailbox, someone is taking pictures of him. This is where the main ethical dilemma is revealed. Rankin Fitch, played by Gene Hickman, has already begun to gather information on all the possible Jurors that could work the trail. He plans on getting the Jurors that would vote for his client, Vicksburg Firearms. Wendell Roar, the attorney that represents Celeste, also decides to hire a Jury consultant like Fitch. He chooses a man that came down from Philadelphia, named Lawrence, to do the Job. In the midst of the movie unfolding, we also find out that Nick has been chosen as Juror #9. When Nick arrives home later that night, He greets Marble, and we learn that are trying to sway the Jury as well. They are trying to make money by selling the Jurors votes to the highest paying side. There are 3 different sides working this trail, each wanting to win for their own reasons. Is this idea of swaying a Jury ethical? The three theories of ethical behavior that most apply to this movie are Rights Theory, Utilitarianism, and Justice and Fairness. I will apply these separate theories to try and answer this question. The first theory I want to take a look at is Justice and Fairness. The whole trial is about whether Mrs.. Woods deserved to be compensated for her husbands death. She was taking on a Gun manufacturer, not the specific person that shot her husband. Her attorney claimed that Vicksburg Firearms werent checking store sells. Therefore allowing people to buy as many guns as they wanted. They claimed people were buying these guns in large amounts, to sell on the black market. Of course, Vicksburg attorneys argued that the company had been checking up on different sales. They argued the fact that it wasnt there fault her husband was injured. They also argued the fact that the shooter was the real cause and was dead. So the question, in regards to whether Mrs.. Woods deserved the money or not, can actually be found by looking at compensatory Justice. If Vicksburg Firearms was negligent to where their guns were being sold, then it might be their fault that the gunman was able to acquire a gun. This is the reason that Finch was hired. The company knew that there was a slight chance they could lose and have their reputation, and money, deteriorate. Is this any reason that a Jury should be looked at as votes? Is it something that can be bought or manipulated to go a certain way? The answer is no. Rails theory of fairness pulls many different approaches of Justice into two principals. The first principle, the principle of equal liberty, is the greater of the two. It states that liberties must be protected from invasion of others and must be equal to those of others. This simply means that everyone deserves equal treatment. So the Jury should be protected from outside, and inside, invasion. Therefore they are tightly linked to duties. That is why I am going to look at rights theory next. Rights theory defined is an individuals entitlement to do something. Moral rights and Legal sights are different, but when trying to swing the Juror votes, both are violated. Using the legal rights system, it permits a person to act a certain way. That is why the Jurors are allowed to Judge whether someone is guilty or innocent. Moral Rights are entitlements based on moral standards independent of a legal system. That is why someone trying to swing the vote is wrong. These people are independent of the legal system but still feel that they can control others rights. An easier way to look at it is; if I have a right to do something, others have a duty to not interfere with that eight. Because these Jurors are fulfilling a legal right and their moral rights are being jeopardized, both of their rights are being infringed upon. Moral rights, in particular, provide individuals with equality and autonomy. One cannot subject others to their wishes. Finch does not do this subtly. He gives many of the Jurors ultimatums by digging up dirt in their past, and also causing problems. Two of these situations stood out very clear to me. The first was when Finchs henchman told Kick that he knew about her abortion. That he knew the baby wasnt her husbands and if she didnt vote his way, her husband would find out. The next situation was when Finch set Mills husband up to get arrested. Mill was told that if she didnt vote for Vicksburg, her husband wouldnt be released. These tactics are morally and legally wrong. The last topic I want to look at is Utilitarianism. Niccolo Machiavelli’s â€Å"The Prince† attempts to explain the necessary tactics and required knowledge a ruler must attain in order to gain and maintain a successful reign. The novel serves as an abstract manual, addressing the definition of a good/bad ruler by placing emphasis on the required military organization, the character a ruler must posses, and the success that could be attained if a ruler should follow the guide. The scope in which the book is written is that of a scholarly observant. Machiavelli places his findings and observations of history, as well as the needs of the people so the information may serve the prince as a tool, that once implemented will create and maintain a powerful state. The guide places a particular emphasis on the prerequisites of a good ruler. Arguing that a ruler must â€Å"...make himself both loved and feared by his subjects, followed and respected by his soldiers,.... be severe yet loved, magnanimous and generous...†(28) these are the qualities ingrained in imploring a successful military, balancing cruelty and generosity, and forming successful alliances. By addressing the issues and concerns of the people and that of the state, Machiavelli reveals the shift between a good ruler and a bad ruler. The guide demonstrates the good by exemplifying the bad done by past rulers, then judging and criticizing their handles on the military, cruelty vs generosity deplored, and the treatment of their alliances. One of the most important institutions in which Machiavelli places emphasis on in â€Å"The Prince† is in the management of a military force. Graphic rating scale A graphic rating scale is the most commonly used appraisal system. Evaluators record their judgments on a scale that includes about 5–7 categories. Categories are defined by adjectives such as outstanding, meets expectations or needs improvement. This method is popular because it is easy to administer and can be quantified, if desired, by adding a numeric value to each description. Ranking method In the ranking method, the evaluator places employees from a particular group in the order of overall performance, starting with the top performer–who is rated the highest–and moving down to the poorest performer in the group who receives the lowest ranking. Paired comparison is a variation of the ranking method in which the performance of each employee is compared with every other employee. The comparison is often based on a single criterion, such as overall performance. The employee who receives the greatest number of favorable comparisons is ranked the highest. This can be difficult to administer if your work group consists of a large number of employees. Forced distribution method The forced distribution method requires the evaluator to assign individuals to a limited number of categories, much like a normal frequency distribution curve. A few individuals will get very high ratings and a few will get very low ratings, with the majority averaging in the center of the curve. Generally, those with very low ratings are subject to termination. As with the ranking method, this system requires the evaluator to place some employees at the bottom, even if their performance is acceptable, and some at the top, even if performance may actually be less than outstanding. The system makes the erroneous assumption that there must be some outstanding workers and some poor workers, even when that may not be the case. Forced distribution is unpopular among managers because many believe it destroys teamwork and fosters cutthroat competition among employees. Critical incident method The critical incident method requires the evaluator to maintain records of employees’ favorable and unfavorable performances. These critical incidents become the basis for evaluation. The incident log must be maintained over the entire evaluation period to eliminate the problem of just evaluating an employee’s most recent Performance. Essay method In the essay method, the evaluator writes a brief narrative of the employee’s performance. The major criticism of this method is that it is very  subjective because the evaluation criteria left entirely to the discretion of the evaluator and the results are dependent on the writing skills of the evaluator. Associated Effects of Beach Grooming on Intertidal Organisms - Essay Example The importance of measuring the macrofauna that is evident inside large kelp wracks ensures the survival or extinction of many species that flourish within the macrofauna community. Such specimens as hopper, work+Poly and crab are the subject of this paper and their capacity to flourish in numbers in either a groomed or ungroomed sandy beach. The kelp wracks provide an immense macro- and micro-organism breading ground along with sustainable features necessary to fulfill their existence. These numbers were inputted via t-test and produced outputs for their mean variance and their percentages equivalent to the groomed and ungroomed beach. The first of two samples was taken in the early morning prior to any grooming and a second sample was completed in the early afternoon along the transects that ran perpendicular to the line formed by the water's edge. Each sample consisted of a shovel full of sand and the organisms in it. The sand was then sieved in order to count all the organisms in each of the samples and was recorded on the data sheet. The t-tests and analysis/graphs are at the end of this report. There was some wrack present in the first sample and very little in the second sample. The transect continued on for the prescribed 30m long zone and 5m shoreward of the berm and was run down towards the water. Each sample was taken at every 2-meter transect line and to preserve the area after testing, each hole was filled in after data was collected. Discussion The goal of this research is to enter into discussion the three areas respecting the sandy beach ecosystem. These include patterns of Zonation, density and species diversity and the association of sandy beach invertebrate in ungroomed and groomed sand beaches. Pattern of Zonation Dahl (1952) identified three different zones attributed to the "amount of tidal inundation: 1) subterrestial fringe (Talitrid-Ocypodid belt); midlittoral zone (Cirolanid isopods); and the sub-littoral fringe (rich and varied fauna)" (Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary: Sandy Beaches, 2006). It has been found that an additional zone should be added for beaches in central California, called "swash zone" (MBNMS, 2006) and the following figure is relative to the fauna zone as outlined by Dahl: Figure 1. Introduction Of Information And Communication Technologies Commerce Essay In this era of modernisation, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play a vital role in businesses and firms of all sizes. The term ICT has progressed and evolved to include many aspects of computing and technology, and has indeed become very distinguishable. In this essay, the ways in which the introduction of ICT affects power relations in the workplace will be discussed. First, a definition of the phrases ICT and power relations in the workplace will be provided. In what follows, I will establish the particular effects that ICT directly brings to the workplace namely surveillance, a change to organization structure, increased communication as well as how it skills and deskills workers. Explanation on how these effects subsequently affect power relations in the workplace will then be provided. The Information Technology Association of America defines ICT as the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. ICT involves converting, protecting, transferring, keeping and receiving information. This is all done with the aid of computers and software. On the other hand, power refers to the ability to translate influence or make a difference. The actions of one person affect that of another. According to Foucault (1988), within the field of power relations, what one person does affects a second, which affects a third, and so on. The characteristic of power relations is that, as agents in the structure, some men can more or less determine other mens conduct, but never exhaustively (David Owen, 1994). Power relations precipitate all the strategies, the networks, the mechanisms, all those techniques by which a decision is accepted and by which that decision could not but be taken in the way it was. Foucault goes on to say that Power relations are multiple; they have different forms, they can be in play in family relations, or within an institution, or an administration or between a dominating and a dominated class. In this essay, it can be summarized that power relations in the workplace means the ability to affect how other people w ithin the workplace do work. Surveillance The introduction of Scientific Management, also known as Taylorism saw an era where managers strived for control over workers. The introduction of ICT to the workplace has allowed managers to practice methods of worker surveillance that have never been seen before. ICT has given managers the ability to pry on their staff by doing things like keystroke counting, listening in on phone conversations (to monitor quality of service provided by staff), telephone call accounting (registering information about the time, duration, destination and cost of phone calls), entry and exit controls using smart cards (which give information on staff whereabouts), electronic cash registers and product scanning systems (provides details on who handles what merchandise, volume handled and how efficiently), the reading of electronic mail and the use of video cameras for video surveillance (After ILO, 1993, pp. 12 13). In the past, managers were only able to monitor the performance of whole departments by monitoring things like quantity and quality of products produced. However, new information technologies have enabled employers to gather highly detailed performance related data regarding not only the work but each individual worker itself. This can now be done on a minute by minute basis and often without the employee being aware (Gandy, 1993; Lyon, 1994). The information gathered by managers is most of the time too overwhelming to go through stringently. Power relations become relevant when this vast information about worker performance is collected. This is because managers must now decide if or how to use the information gathered on worker performance. Due to the economic demands to become more efficient and more profitable, managers are pressured to use the information at hand to hopefully enhance performance and efficiency of workers (Susan Bryant, 1995). Managers or employers will be able to take courses of action based on the worker performance information. For instance, reprimanding individual employees for dismal performance or changing standard operating procedures. One of the side effects of this is that it legitimizes decisions to further intensify worker surveillance for the benefit of profitability and efficiency. Modern surveillance in the workplace can be modelled after Jeremy Benthams Panopticon the prison complex designed whereby prison guards would be able to watch prisoners without being watched back (Zuboff, 1988). Nevertheless workplace surveillance using ICT differs from Benthams Panopticon because workers are certain that they are being watched all the time. The constant visibility and unverifiability that employees experience through workplace surveillance may have significant positive implications on the way they work (Zuboff, 1988, p. 321). A phenomenon that Zuboff refers to as anticipatory conformity often happens because of the mere existence of surveillance. Since workers are aware they are consistently being watched, a culture of self discipline tends to take place to reduce the risk of unwanted discovery. This is interesting because it allows change in the way workers work without management having to take extra action. This worker self discipline helps prove Foucaults argument (1979) that sooner or later, individuals become bearers of their own surveillance. (Lyon, 1994, pg. 133) Even if workers dont willingly self discipline themselves, it is highly likely that because of the readily available system generated information about each others performance, peer surveillance and intervention will get to them before management intervention will (Laabs, 1992; Lyon, 1994). As employees become more and more accustomed to surveillance methods, employees may be able to get away with doing less by working around existing sys tems to avoid detection. However, such occurrences are deemed to be less likely to happen compared to trends of conformity (Zuboff, 1988). It may also be argued that surveillance encourages workers to work harder and to become more productive as their efforts are now more easily recognized by management. This means that individual workers are more likely to be rewarded for putting in extra effort. Furthermore, employees are less likely to be put at fault for the wrongs of others. This phenomenon also happens automatically because of the existence of surveillance in the workplace without any direct intervention from management (Zuboff, 1988). The last two points show how the existence of ICT in the workplace (which allows for worker surveillance) may allow for management to relax control over workers and at the same time expect positive returns whilst having to exert less authority or power in the workplace. Communication and Organization Structure The introduction of ICT has allowed us to interact at almost same speeds a matter of seconds regardless of whether we are a few meters or a few miles away from one another. In the past two decades following the birth of utilities like e-mail and ultra fast internet connections, the workplace has experienced a significant change in operating procedures and structure due to this advancement in communication capabilities. Firms are now able to function on a transnational basis. Managers from firms are able to operate from their home countries without having to incur the financial, physical and opportunity cost of leaving their home country (or at least less often). The ability to communicate over distances and at such great speed has allowed managers to run things thousands of miles away on a real time basis. The complexity of a firm may change from that of vertically complex to horizontally complex due to the ability of managers on top of the hierarchy to communicate with more people at a greater ease. The need for extra layers of hierarchy to delegate tasks becomes unnecessary because of better communication technology. Workers at the lower end/bottom of hierarchy may find it easier to pitch ideas because there may be less red tape to go through before their idea can be proposed. On the other hand, CEOs may find that instructions are conveyed to their subordinates more clearly and effectively because these instructions need not be passed on to too many levels of management before it reaches everyone. The ability to communicate with ICT may also affect the centralization of a firm. A centralized firm is one where decisions in the organization are concentrated at one point. The introduction of ICT will become a catalyst to the decentralization of a firm (John Bratton, 2007). With ICT, it is much easier for senior management to solicit information and ideas from workers down the hierarchy. This is because, as mentioned, the means of communication make conveying and soliciting an idea much simpler than before. Prior to this, a physical meeting with high level management would be needed to pitch an idea; which means that it would virtually be impossible for a low rank worker to contribute any ideas to the firm. With the improved ability to communicate amongst workers and management, senior management might be willing to give more decision making autonomy to workers since their input would be more accessible. This has a major impact on power relations in a firm because communication ma y allow for control to be relaxed as decision making input may come from both sides of the hierarchy. Having said that, the extensive use of e-mail and electronic communication in the workplace means people seldom ever have to meet (Argyll and Cook, 1976). Not physically meeting takes away the ability to analyze the personal construct of others (Adam Webber, 1981). Personal construct theory deals with a range of professional social skills that enable people to analyze interactions from different perspectives and make judgements about peoples personalities and meanings. These skills are drawn from physical interaction with individuals. The effects of this are adverse because little or no consideration will be taken about workers feelings and personality. Deskilling and Enskilling Argument Deskilling is defined as a reduction in the proficiency needed to perform a specific job, which leads to a corresponding reduction in the wages paid for that job (Bratton, 2007). In the Taylorist context, the deskilling argument focuses on the division of mental and physical labour and the breaking up of complex tasks into smaller, more discrete ones. The logic of capitalist production requires the constant transformation of techniques of production. This involves an increase in mechanization, automation which results in the displacement of skills (Penn Scattergood, 1985). The workforce becomes even more degraded and deskilled. For instance, fast food or retail outlets have electronic tills that scan, calculate and tell the cashier how much money to return to the customer as change. The cashiers job is repetitive, relatively simple and easy to keep an eye on because everything is electronic. The main goal of this is to not only ensure worker efficiency but to increase the degree of control the management has over workers. Very little is taken into consideration about worker satisfaction or fulfilment. Harry Braverman notes that the goal of the labour process under capitalism is to generate managerial control for maximization of efficiency and profitability (Glenn and Feldberg, 1979). Due to the fact that workers under this condition only concentrate on specific tasks, they lack the skills to do things out of their job requirement, perhaps because they have neglected and hence have forgotten about those skills. On the other hand, let us consider the enskilling argument. Enskilling is described as changes in work often involving technology that result in an increase in the skill level of workers (Bratton, 2007). Many individuals would have been retrenched due to technology making certain manual jobs automated. However, for those who still have their jobs, their job scope would have increased. ICT enables more people do more things. For instance, an editor in a publishing house in the 1970s would only have enough expertise and minutes in a day to be in charge of reading and editing hand written manuscripts whilst having to send them back and forth to the author through traditional postal mail. With ICT, manuscripts may be written, edited, and transmitted digitally; which saves time. ICT also makes it easy enough for the 21st century editor to acquire other hands on skills such as video editing and graphic design; tasks that would have formerly been left to specialist in those fields. In addition, one would be would be required to exercise many other discrete competencies such as copy editing, marketing skills and negotiating ability (Barry, Chandler, Clark, Johnston, Needle, 2000). Here, it is possible to notice an increase in skill variety, task identity and task feedback. The increased skill of the worker allows managers to give more autonomy to them. This effectively means that management may loosen its control over workers relaxing power relations between management and workers. However, some have argued that this enskilling of workers allow managers to control workers to a higher extent because tasks are now centralized on less individuals compared to when they were spread out over large amounts of people in scientific management. Conclusion I have displayed how the introduction of ICT to the workplace has caused an increase in worker surveillance, a greater capability to communicate and the enskilling/deskilling phenomena. I have then shown how the mentioned effects of ICT have affected power relations within the workplace by altering the magnitude (increase and decrease) of control, authority and influence management has over workers.
